R-E-S-P-E-C-T

I am reading this book right now about being An Excellent Wife. It has been very convicting for me. I do need to give a warning about this book for those of you who are interested in picking it up! You need to be ready to change, and do lots of prayer, because like I said, it is VERY convicting. On the plus side though, it is transforming my marriage in a very awesome way! So, back to respect. One of the big deals in the book and the Bible in fact, is to show love to your husband you need to show him respect. After a trip this past weekend, God has shown me that one way I can really respect my husband is to keep a clean house, not because he demands it or complains if it isn't, but because that is important to him. Let me give you a little background....

My MIL is an AMAZING housekeeper. She is in her early 60s and cleans more than I do in my late 20s. Everything is ALWAYS clean, and her husband does not make this task easy on her. She also doesn't mind if her house gets dirty after she has cleaned it, she will just do it again. I on the other hand, don't want the dogs, SD or BG to do anything to mess up the pristine shape of my house that I just slaved away over. Now, to her fault, I think she probably cleaned more than she did other stuff, not that I am saying she neglected her family, but in my opinion, she does put a very high priority on a clean house. I think that this is where my husband gets his appreciation of a clean house and why he desires that our house is clean.

So, a little background (aka excuses) as to why my house is not clean right now. First off, I am going to blame baby Linus, the kid for the first couple of weeks until just recently, was sucking the life out of me. I do not remember being this tired with SD. Then, add on to that, I had my mom in town for Halloween, went to Canton for the weekend, then to SA for a luncheon, came back for 3 days and then turned around and went back to SA for the weekend. Not to mention, I work a full-time job, have two side jobs (accounting/bookkeeping work), a husband, two dogs and a 17 month old. So, those are my excuses.

After my realization last weekend though, I will be scrubbing away like Cinderella this weekend, because I want to show my husband some R-E-S-P-E-C-T!

Yeah, I'm sure your house is a total disaster! Mine needs some work if you'd like to show me some R-E-S-P-E-C-T!

Is there a version called "An Excellant Husband"?

As my home is the size of your walk-in closet, it always looks messy. If you have one thing laying out it appears Hurricane Katrina has just blown through.

I don't bother cleaning during the week. By the end of the week, my clothes have moved completely out of the closet onto the dresser. Then, Saturday morning, we both pitch-in to clean-up our pig-pen.

Interesting. Mail that book this way when you are finished.
