Bible Reading

In our weekly church bulletin they have a section that gives suggested Bible reading for the week. The cool thing about this is that 1) the whole church is potentially reading the same stuff and 2) it makes you read things you might not normally read. I like the second one because a lot of times God uses it to really speak to me. We have been reading through the book of Proverbs lately and here are the verses that have jumped out at me!

Proverbs 11:3 (New International Version)
3 The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity

Proverbs 11:22 (New International Version)
22 Like a gold ring in a pig's snout is a beautiful woman who shows no discretion.

Proverbs 12:1 (New International Version)
Proverbs 12
1 Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid.

Proverbs 12:9 (New International Version)
9 Better to be a nobody and yet have a servant than pretend to be somebody and have no food.

Proverbs 12:16 (New International Version)
16 A fool shows his annoyance at once, but a prudent man overlooks an insult.

Proverbs 12:23 (New International Version)
23 A prudent man keeps his knowledge to himself, but the heart of fools blurts out folly.

Proverbs 12:25 (New International Version)
25 An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up.

Proverbs 13:3 (New International Version)
3 He who guards his lips guards his life, but he who speaks rashly will come to ruin.

Proverbs 14:30 (New International Version)
30 A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.

Proverbs 16:3 (New International Version)
3 Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.

Proverbs 19:21 (New International Version)
21 Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails.

Proverbs 20:19 (New International Version)
19 A gossip betrays a confidence; so avoid a man who talks too much.

Some of these spoke to me because they are dealing with gossip, something I am trying to avoid in 2009. Some of them spoke to me because they are speak to being content. And some, speak to being anxious, another thing I am trying to work on!

Enjoy!
