The Island of Misfit Toys

Poor SD... We went to the doctor on Monday for them to recheck her ears after her latest ear infection. All looks good in her ears, but poor thing, she has all of mine and BG's bad traits, rolled into one adorable little girl! I had the doctor check her slight pigeon-toe issue (from BG) and sure enough, she has an "issue." Well, not really an issue, her hips are just different and it makes her feet have a slight pigeon toe. BG had this as a child and had to wear shoes things when he slept to correct it, it made his feet straight, but his hips are still the same, which I think will probably give him (if he doesn't have it already) some knee problems. Anyway, this is not her only "issue," she has my bad drainage, hence all of the ear problems. She has my stomach issues at times and her lips are like BG's. I used to joke before she was born that she was going to end up with all of our little quirks, and sure enough, she ended up with quite a few! I wonder if Linus will have the same things? It got me to thinking about genes and how some of them are more dominant than others, etc. I think BG and my bad genes must be dominant ones, or we both have them! See, science in HS is useful later in life, even if it is only to make you question things :)

AD has a little bow-legged thing too, just like BR. Funny.

No telling which of our many MENTAL disorders she will inherit :-)

Although I don't have children.....I am willing to wager that EVERY parent sees the same thing in their children.

Unfortunately, it works the other way as well, in that as kids (teenagers) we look at our parents when growing up thinking we will NEVER be like them. And one day, you find yourself sounding like them! Arrggghhhh!

Such is life, but it does make it interesting.

I see both of us in each of them. But man do they both really take after one or the other. It will be fun to see who Linus really takes after.

I was born with congenital hip dysplasia. My feet were pigeon toed. I had to wear a brace on my legs for 9 months to hold my hip joints in the correct position while they finished growing, to correct the problem. That's why I have hip and knee problems now. Is this something like what your husband was born with? Have they done xrays on your daughter's hips? I was just curious :) I was concerned that Hailey would inherit that trait but so far she seems to have avoided it thank God. Her joints do pop very easily though.

Ok I hope my previous comment didn't come across wrong...I wasn't trying to worry you, I was just curious about the condition since it sounds similar to mine and wondering what they might do for your daughter.

Erin - Not sure if that is what it is or not, they checked her hips a lot when she was a baby and said everything was fine. I almost think it is better if they don't correct it because her body probably works the way it was designed, although different from what appears to be "normal" at least things are in line for her!

They would have noticed if that's what she has. I agree, if if ain't broke, don't fix it, you know? :)
